Circulatory Disease

Once again, the friction from a traditional crutch causes damage with its inflexibility and inability to absorb shock. Constant rubbing and pressure against major veins and arteries from the crutch could cause several injuries that may lead to severe circulatory diseases.

Circulatory System damage from the common crutch:

  • Thrombosis: Deep vein thrombosis causes blood clots. Factors that cause vein thrombosis would be from injury to the lining of the vein.
  • Superficial Phlebitis: The inflammation and clotting in a superficial vein. Even a slight injury to a vein can cause inflammation.
