Nerve damage

Traditional crutches, due to their inflexibility in both the footing and structural absorbence, cause constant rubbing to vital nerves that innervate the arm. The oneCrutch, due to to the fact that no weight is placed on these areas reduces the wear on these nerves.skin.

Nervous System damage from the common crutch:

Brachial Plexus: Traditional crutches damage these nerves. The Brachial Plexus innervates the shoulder girdle and upper extremity. (Picture on right in yellow)

Mononeuropathy: Occurs when a single peripheral nerve is damaged. Caused by prolonged pressure on a nerve that runs close to the surface of the body area such as shoulder, wrist, or elbow.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome results from compression of the median nerve that travels through the wrist. This can produce not only tingling/burning sensation in your hand but also in your shoulder. With time, muscles in hand weaken and atrophy.
